Using Nutshell CRM With Checkfront
Nutshell is a hosted third party Customer Relationship Management (CRM) application. Pricing starts at just $20 per month per user and comes with a 14-day free trial, so you can fully test it out with Checkfront before making a purchase.
What’s more, it’s extremely easy to integrate with Checkfront and requires just a few simple steps to get you started.
Nutshell can be found in your Checkfront add-ons area and provides the ability to automatically create new leads and contacts, or update existing ones when a booking is created via Checkfront.
Setup in Nutshell
In order to link Checkfront to Nutshell, you must enter some API details into your Checkfront account.
Once you’ve created your account with Nutshell, login and click on the Setup link in the left sidebar.
From here, you’ll see a comprehensive menu at the top, separated into various categories. The last category, Third-party, has a link labelled API keys. Click on this.
If you’ve been using Nutshell for a while, you may have created other API keys in the past. If this is the case, you will see them listed on this page.
Go ahead and click on the Add API key link.
In the pop-up box, enter a name for the API key you are about to create. Something simple like Checkfront will do. Choose API access from the Permissions field and then click the green New API key button to complete the API key creation.
Your new API key will now be displayed on the page. Click on it to open another pop-up box which will allow you to copy the key in its entirety. Once you’ve copied the alpha-numeric string of characters, head back over to your Checkfront dashboard.
Setup in Checkfront
To access the add-ons area in your Checkfront account, go to Manage > Addons > Service Add-ons and look for the CRM section. Hover your mouse over the Nutshell tile and click on the Setup button.
Enter your username, which is the email address you used to create your Nutshell CRM account. Then, paste the API key you just copied in the previous step.
If you’d like to add a note to contacts on new bookings and/or create leads for new bookings, check those options here. When you’re ready, click the blue Activate button.
Test in Checkfront
Your Checkfront integration with Nutshell CRM is now complete.
If you go ahead and create a test booking in Checkfront, you will see it instantly updated in Nutshell.
Back in Checkfront, you will now see a link underneath your invoices labelled Open in Nutshell. Clicking this link will open the customer in Nutshell so you can review their file.
