If you market your business via Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising with Google AdWords, you’ll no doubt want to start tracking your Checkfront booking conversions. Obtaining this return on investment (ROI) data for your online campaigns is perhaps the most important factor in evaluating the effectiveness of your online marketing initiatives.
There are plenty of resources available online to assist you with Google AdWords. We highly recommend that you consult a qualified Adwords expert, and/or do plenty of research before diving into pay-per-click advertising. A finely tuned campaign can have an immediate and positive impact on your revenue; however, a poorly tuned and monitored campaign can be disastrous and costly.
Setup in Google AdWordsBack to top
Setting up AdWords tracking with Checkfront is easy. First, log into your Google AdWords account. From the menu bar at the top, click on the Tools link and then select Conversions from the drop-down menu.
You can now create a conversion for your Checkfront bookings. Click on the red button labelled + Conversion to get started.
The next step is to select the source of the conversion you’d like to track. You will need to choose Website. It’s the first option you are presented with and all you need to do is click on the Select button in order to proceed.
In the Value field, select the second option The value of this conversion action may vary. You can assign whatever default value you wish, but the value will be picked up from your items in Checkfront, so you don’t need to worry about this too much. You will need to customize your conversion tracking tag to include transaction specific values. You can find out more about that here.
The Category selected should be Purchase/Sale.
When ready, click on the Save and continue button at the bottom.
Tracking Tag Installation
It’s now time to review and install your tag. Checkfront requires two pieces of information from the code provided to you by Google AdWords. These are the Conversion ID and the Conversion Label, as highlighted in the screenshot below. You do not need the entire line of code, just the numbers.
Once you’ve obtained that information, click Done to save your progress and then head over to your account at Checkfront.
Setup in CheckfrontBack to top
Once in your Checkfront dashboard, navigate to Manage > Add-ons > Google AdWords. From the pop-up window, enter your Google Conversion ID and Google Conversion Label. Then, click the Activate button.
Once activated in Checkfront, new customer bookings will be sent to your Adwords account along with the value of the transaction.
Please note the tracking status in your AdWords account will remain Unverfied until your first successful conversion.
