Two weeks ago, just in time for the big rush of holiday shoppers, Checkfront released our new gift certificates add-on. We’ve been amazed how many of you have already jumped in and started using this new feature, but for those of you who haven’t had a chance yet, here’s a quick intro:
Checkfront’s gift certificate add-on (included for all plan levels) lets you offer customers redeemable gift certificates that can be applied towards the value of a future booking with your business. These gift certificates are fully customizable, allowing you to set the value and determine the period of validity. What’s more, a gift certificate can be used more than once. So, if a customer has a $100 gift certificate, but their booking is only $50, they will still have $50 left to spend at a later date!
There are two ways to put gift certificates in your customer’s hands:
- Create gift certificates (of varying values) that appear as purchasable items on your booking pages.
- As an admin, issue certificates manually – without requiring payment.
If you’ve previously shied away from gift certificates because of the work involved in tracking, it’s time to reconsider. According to the National Retail Federation, more than 73% of us will buy at least one gift card this holiday season. They’re great for generating revenue in the off-season, widening your customer base to those who receive them, and as a bonus, with redemption rates rarely hitting 100%, gift certificates can be a high margin revenue stream.
Barely two weeks in, we’ve already seen more than 400 gift certificate items created. Keep them coming!
