Check-in Check-out


currently, the Check-in/check-out feature is for the entire booking.

It would be very helpful to have this feature also on the "per item" level.

It would help keeping track of wether or not ALL items of a booking have been returned or not.

    Thanks for your suggestion. We've had a few requests to manage the inventory of Items as they are rented out and assigned to bookings. I really like the idea of checking the Item in and out of bookings. This is similar to how our Guest Form and Daily Agenda allow staff to check-in specific guests. I'll make sure that this suggestion is added to the existing feature request for Item assignment. There are some larger features in progress that this type of feature could pair well with.

  • @Ryan_Checkfront ...Please don't forget that you have many hotel/restaurant users in the community also. I get this is useful for rental and maybe other types of business.  But if you force this on all your clients, it will make our Hotel life impossible if we have to check-in/out every line item we add to a customer's invoice over a period of days or weeks as they stay in the hotel.  I am not saying don't do this.  I am saying...again...please understand all the use cases and talk to your various customer types BEFORE you do this.
  • A possible route for this feature could be to have the check-in option on the item level.
    When setting up an item, it can be decided wether it needs to be checked-in/-out.

    Hotel-like businesses could have this disabled for all their items, while rentals would probably have it enabled for all items.

    If the invoice (booking) contains NO checkable items, then this is like the current situation,

    If there is at least 1 checkable item, then the booking 
    • is checked-in as soon as at least 1 checkable item is checked-in
    • is checked-out as soon as all items are checked-out.

    Any progress on the implementation of this feature request ?

    Thank you for checking in and for providing additional insight.

    We don't currently have any updates related to the progress of individual item check-in/out within a booking.

    That said, I've provided our Product team with insight into how accommodation vs. equipment rental businesses may have differing needs so that they can scope out this potential functionality further as they typically do.

    Does that mean "nothing has been done at all regarding this matter" ?
    Has it at least been considered as a possible improvement ?
    Has the Dev team started to work on it ?
    Or is it just another unticked checkbox in the middle of hundreds of feature requests ?

    I don't want a politically correct answer, I'd like a honest one.

    Thanks for your reply -- I'm glad to clarify.

    We're in the process of building out new foundational features such as assets, products and overall resource management functionality.

    Once those essential elements are built, we'll be able to consider other improvements such as individual product check-in/out.

    Hopefully, this helps to shed some light.
