conversation killer in checkfront

Hello,
i remember a blog article from checkfront team about mobile booking.
I think this is totally normal and 80 % of our website visitors using a mobile device.

But still checkfront is using the native android/iphone calendar when opening the booking date/calendar.
So nobody can see if an item is available or sold out or anything. user needs to check with trial and error! this is absolutely terrible user experience and a big conversion killer.

imagine this would be at airbnb or booking.com. You want to book a certain accomodation and you cant see availability in calendar.
Or same with other products for tours ...
On PC version also checkfront is using its own "availability" calendar.

In 2020 its really terrible to have this old-fashiioned and conversion killing experience for user!

... and please dont answer me with the standard feature request ... put it on the list... this is not a small nice to have staff. This costs money and bookings every day and let checkfront looked outdated and our users and customers are frustrated!

:-)

    Hi @Patrick,

    Thank you for your patience!

While we’re definitely on the same page as you and recognize how important the mobile experience is, implementing date-selectors that display availability on mobile is not something that is on our immediate roadmap.

Currently, our product team is focused on foundational improvements for inventory management.  Once we wrap up these foundational improvements we do have plans to dive into an overhaul of the guest experience, and if you’re interested, I can let the product team know you’d be interested in sharing your business needs when we start research for the project.

If you have any further questions please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us at support@checkfront.com.

    Warm regards,
    Brittany

  • ... is there any chance to change this using css?
  • BrittanyBrittany Checkfront
    Hi @Patrick,

    Thanks for the response!

No, the calendar used on the date pickers cannot be changed using CSS. However, I do want to point out that there is an 'Availability' tab that can be seen after selecting an item. This shows the customer what dates are available, and they can jump directly to a date by clicking on it. There is no need for the user to use 'trial and error'.

Is there a reason this tab does not work for your customers? Or, if you think your customers may be missing this tab, then what you could do with CSS is try to force your customers to see it. You could hide the current 'Book Now' button and instead relabel/re-style the 'Availability' button. That way, your customers will always click the 'Availability' button and will always see the item's availability.

Please note that assistance with custom CSS is outside of the scope of what our support can offer. But if you would like to email us at support@checkfront.com, we can take a look at your setup and try to help out.

    Kind regards,
    Brittany

  • i think user expect a certain way how a booking system is working. Like driving a car is similar no matter which brand... I just think users expect a calender with availabilty by opening calendar. If its not working like that, people give up fast and dont start looking for availability somewhere else.

... i think opening the native IOS/android calendar is from old times when a phone screen was small and nobody booked anything on a mobile device... As there is an availability calendar already existing incheckfront use on PC it can not be such a big change to stop switching calender use on mobile devices...

I hope your team finds time to change this soon.

I would prefer updates and improvements that helps customers to book easier and faster. And not another new or changed report :-)
