What is the difference between image ALT tag and image Title tag?

Comments

  • Image alt text describes the image textually so that search engines and screen readers (software used by the visually impaired) can understand what the image is. Using alt text correctly can help your SEO. The image title tag is simply used to provide an image with a title, but it isn't important for SEO.

"alt" gives an alternative description of the image. This attribute is required for image

"title" gives additional information about the image. This attribute is optional for image.

  • The required alt attribute specifies an alternate text for an image, if the image cannot be displayed. To create a tooltip for an image, use the title attribute!
  • The title is text that's displayed in a small popup box when you bring your mouse cursor over the image. Alt tag and image titles are also used to improve the accessibility of your website for those with poor vision or screen reader devices
