Paypal Website Payments Standard is a quick way to start accepting credit card payments for your bookings and reservations with Checkfront. Unlike most payment processors, Paypal Website Payments Standard for Business requires no setup fees, no subscription fees, and no lengthy approval process.
Assuming you have already created your Checkfront account, the next thing you'll need is a Paypal Business Account (free) -- Sign-up and approval only takes a few minutes.
Once your Paypal account has been activated, you'll need to give Checkfront permission to add payments to your account:
- Login to Paypal
- Go to your Profile in the main navigation bar.
- Under the Account Information section, click on API Access.
- From the API Access page, you'll be presented with two options. Select: Option 1, Add or Edit API Permissions
- From the next page supply the Checkfront API username where it asks 'Enter API account username': acct_api1.checkfront.com.
* Enter it exactly as seen above -- not your Checkfront URL.
Check off and Express Checkout ('Direct Payment' if available), and click Submit to complete the setup with Paypal.
Here is what the Give Third Party API Permission page should look like:
- Lastly, you'll need to supply your Paypal E-mail address in the Manage / E-commerce section of your Checkfront Management Console.
It's important to note that although there are no upfront or monthly fees with Website Payments Standard, Paypal charges a transaction fee anywhere from 1.9% to 3% per booking depending on your location and currency. More information on Paypal Websites Payment Standard.
