New dashboard and mobile apps under development -- have your input
We have some new areas under development and we'd appreciate any feedback / suggestions you may have:
Our existing dashboard (the first page you see when you login) has been with us since we launched. Although it has served most of us well, we believe there are areas for improvement.
We'd really like your input as to what sort of data you'd like to see on the dashboard. This is a place where you go to get a quick snapshot of your operation - much like the front page of a newspaper.
The current thinking is that the traffic and booking charts (bottom half), although useful, are less relevant to the dashboard, at-least in the current layout. We are thinking of taking the top half of the new daily summary report (Dashboard / Summary) and including it in the dashboard, while moving the traffic and booking charts to the report section.
We are going to be releasing an iPhone and Android app, as well as an updated mobile login. These are in the early stages of development, so this is a really good time to offer any suggestions as to functionality you'd like to see.

Will the mobile apps be for managing a Checkfront account? Like a mobile version of the current dashboard, etc.? Or will they be for customers to make bookings?
Mobile Apps is an area Checkfront is keen on development this year. We appreciate any feedback or ideas you may have on what sort of features a mobile app should have for our customers.
Is a mobile version of the dashboard something you feel would benefit work flow?
For myself and my clients, a mobile version of Checkfront admin would be the most helpful. Specifically these features: view current day/week/month's calendar, and create bookings for clients with secure payment through our gateway.
This would be ideal for us: have a person walk up to our tour manager and say "do you take credit card?" And he says sure, pulls out his smartphone gets their info and when their tour should start. Then just creates the booking right then, including typing (or having them type) their credit card info into the smartphone and it charges their card right then and there. And if he didn't have service, if it were able to encrypt and store their card info (maybe this isn't possible) and then charge them when he did have data service. It would save us tons of effort and hassle. But at the very least, we'd like a simple easy view of the day's schedule, as well as possibly the week.
Another nice feature would be if the app could scan the QR code from the booking invoice and check them in.

Will an android app be coming soon? The front end of checkfront on mobile is great but the backend is borderline unusable. It's happened a couple of times a week that mobile access to a reservation would be a godsend but it's almost impossible to get to it through formatting and scrolling issues on Android's (ver. 3.5.2) stock browser.
